Top 7 Summer Hair Care Tips

Wherever you currently land on the CoVid gamut, from travelling internationally to wearing a mask and gloves in your car, we’re judging you.

Wait, what?! We’re here for you. We meant to say we’re here for you.

While there’s clearly a lot going on socially and emotionally for everyone, one thing that is always a safe (lame) topic is the weather.

And we can all agree it’s hot as Hades in Fort Worth.

When it’s hot, we want to get in a body of water. And when we get in a body of water, whether it’s chlorine infested or questionably algae infested, our hair suffers. Keep reading for our favorite summer hair care tips to keep you in tip-top shape! (Your hair, not your ass. Get real plz).

TIP #1

Wear a swim cap. This one’s quite chic don’t you think? Seriously though, if you’re Lucy Lapswimmer, you better have one of these handy (especially if you’re blonde!) unless you want green, broken brittle hair.

TIP #2

Wear a hat. Yep, the same advice your esthetician gives you applies for your hair too. Newsflash: The sun bleaches your hair. Your days of glorious lemon juice highlights left with your bikini body Freshman year of college in case you missed the memo.

TIP #3

Use the Kerastase line Bain de Soleil specifically formulated for “sun-exposed hair” inclusive of a Masque Apres-Soleil (aka an “After Sun Mask”), and since it’s in french, you know it’s legit.

TIP #4

Air dry your hair every once in a while. We love Lait de Soie by Kerastase Aragan Oil  for those of you blessed with natural wave or curl when you choose to go au natural. You know whether this is you. If it is not you, you may try to air dry when you know absolutely no one will be seeing you later that evening. Otherwise your chia poof will be turning all the heads and not in a good way.

TIP #5

For the love, come get a trim! And get them more often. Keep damaged ends at bay with regular upkeep and make momma happy. I’m not sure why momma ain’t happy, but if she’s wearing a mask and gloves in her car when it’s 101, maybe that’s why?

TIP #6

If you wet your hair with fresh water before you get in the pool, your hair will not absorb all of the chlorine.

TIP #7

Don’t let pool water dry on your hair. Rinse it out!!!
