Healthy Hair in 2020

Let us guess… Last week you resolved to take better care of your health in some form or fashion. Whether by eating better, drinking less or exercising more, you’re focused on improving your health. And to you who doesn’t do resolutions: we know deep down you’re making subconscious decisions surrounding something health-related because the being who can resist the goal-setting allure of a crispy clean new year is as elusive as Bigfoot.

So now that we’re all on the same page, let’s talk resolution retention. How long does it reallyyyy last people? We hate to be Debbie Downs, but let’s be honest. With Rodeo season a minute away and Spring Break right behind it, temptation abounds. Before we go too far down the road of regret, here’s one health-related resolution you can keep.

Enter… Healthy Hair Habits!

- May we recommend the following for hair repair help: The Ultimate Reset Collection from Shu Uemura as the perfect restart to refresh the hair. Think of this as a visit to Canyon Ranch for your locks. Add in Thérapiste by Kerastase for a once a week reboot from here, and wah-la, luscious locks.

-  Upon indulging in Shu’s Reset Collection, go as long as you can before you wash your hair again. Yes we mean this. Please for the love stop stripping the God-given goodness out of your locks every waking minute. If you can make it at the very least every-other day or two, congratulations. One small step for hair-kind. Add in Color Luster Dry Clean dry shampoo by Shu to help offset the Kurt Cobain look while the natural oils in your hair adjust to the change. While this isn’t for everyone, neither is Keto. So. You do the math.

-  After you wash, try to hold off on the heat as long as possible. Let your mane air dry a little longer than normal before using heated tools or skip them all together if possible! Less heat = happier hair.

- Diet. Omg jk. While eating more greens would of course help, we’re cool with a vitamin or two to do the trick. This brings us to vitamins and supplements. We love biotin and Vital Proteins’ Collagen Peptides or Beauty Boost for hair, skin and nail support. For real results, stick with the collagen for at least 2 weeks before you give up and place it by your Thigh-master.

 - Lastly, get regular trims! Perhaps you’ve heard the old wives’ tale you have to cut your hair for it to grow? Well it isn’t exactly true per se (because science), it certainly helps your locks grow out more evenly and healthier if you’re keeping in touch with your stylist at the salon at least every 8 weeks.

Stop by the salon for the Shu Reset Collection, Dry Shampoo and Kerastase Deep Conditioner. You can find high-quality biotin and Vital Proteins online or at Central Market, Whole Foods or the Sunflower Shoppe.

Happy Hair Health in 2020, people!
